Kring….. Gosh… I hate it every time my alarm clock does its job… I pushed the snooze button but then less in a minute Hannah came and pulled my blanket… She certainly know how to wake me up. I grabbed on Hunney, my fluffy teddy bear and hugged it tightly…
“Wake up, Shasha! It’s almost 6.00 in the morning!” Hannah tried to pulled away Hunney from me but I gave a bite on her fingers. She yelled out of me and hit me with her hairbrush.
“Alright! Alright! I’m almost wake up, mom!” I pulled my blanket but then she just hit me again and this time with Hunney.
“Hey, you are hurting her!” I can’t just stand that she just hit me by using Hunney, my 4 years old teddy bear.
“Wake up, sister! I don’t want to be late for our first day at school!” Before she started to give me lectures, I quickly jumped out of my bed, walked up towards my locker and prepared myself for a shower. Still not fully awaken from my heavenly sleep last night, I bumped into the wall before I noticed that our dorm’s door is still few feet away…
After a 20 minutes quick shower, I get myself to my dorm again and walked up towards the mirror where I found a hot chocolate and tuna sandwich on the small table next to it. I gave Hannah a big smile and a double thumbs up… It’s Monday and we both know that it’s gonna be a cup of coffee and some biscuits will be served in our hostel’s cafeteria.
“Hurry up, princess! Or I’ll take the sport car to school by myself.” I just laughed and get ready for school. After making sure our room was clean and tidy for morning inspection by the Tigers, nickname for our hostel’s prefects given by us since our first year in this school, me and Hannah left for school. We burst out laughing when we saw Mr. George’s frogs that meant for experiments went out from its box while we were walking passed by the parking lot in front of the school cafeteria.
School was just 5 minutes walking from our hostel. When we reached our class, Henry; our classmate was leaning against our class’s door. With both hands in his pockets, he gave us a smile. A smile that every girl in first until the fourth year would die for. Henry is the most good looking boy among the boys in this school up until our class – 4 Science I, the Science-based class where everyone in our class must take Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics as core subjects, which also the top class in our year, among seven other classes.
“Good morning, my princesses! How is your day today?” Henry opened the door for us. As I passed by him, I can smell his perfume. I knew someone that wore the same perfume as him. I looked at Hannah. She gave me a smile instead. “Well, since it’s still early in the morning, our day is still a mystery, isn’t it Shasha?” I just nodded and Hannah quickly dragged me away towards our table. I pulled my chair and put my bag on it. Hannah seemed noticed that I wasn’t smiling anymore.
“I know, Shasha. James used to wear the same perfume before. Come on, girl! Henry is just…” Hannah didn’t finish her words but instead she came close to me, held my hands tightly and looked into my eyes.
“You’ll gonna get over with this and I’m always gonna be here supporting you. I’ll make sure that angel-like devil wear a different perfume by tomorrow. Shieldtox, maybe?” I burst laughing when Hannah said Shieldtox – a spray meant to kill mosquitoes at night in our dorm. Hannah laughed with me but suddenly she was shocked by something. With her mouth wide opened her shocked face indeed funny.
“Oh my God! Shasha, it’s Monday! Don’t tell me you don’t remember anything?” I was confused at first, but suddenly I remembered about it too.
“Seriously, girl! You remembered what we are having in our hostel cafeteria for today and you forgot about our side duty as prefects? You got to be kidding me, Hannah!” It’s Monday and we both were supposed on duty to take names of the students who came late to school.
We both are prefects. I’m the Assistant of Head Prefect and Hannah is the secretary for the School Prefects Body. We were running downstairs and before I realized there was someone who was walking towards us, I bumped into him and both of us fell on the floor. I quickly stood up and picked his books but he was quicker than me. He gathered all his books and without giving me a chance to say I was sorry, he left and walked towards our class. In seconds, Hannah dragged me away and we both ran towards the school gate.
“Don’t bother, he’s always like that. Living in his own world.” Hannah noticed my puzzled face when we reached the gate.
“I haven’t see the boy before. How come you know him?” It was ten minutes pass seven already, Hannah closed the school gate and bunch of girls and boys were clinging on the gate, begging for us to let them in. After I took all their names on my small notebook, Hannah ordered them to line on the right side of the Assembly Hall before allowed to merge in other students lines who came early.
“His name is Zack. We were classmates back in our first year but only for a month. He was transferred by his mother to the private school in Japan together with his older brother, Wayne who was in fourth year that time. I saw him yesterday at the school registration but I didn’t see him in our class registration session. He came with his mother.” Hannah spotted a boy who was hiding behind the school signboard in front of the gate. The boy surrendered and gave his name to me then slowly walked towards the right side of the Assembly Hall. I suddenly remembered his annoyed face when I was bumped into him just now. His eyes… they were…
“Zack….”
